BuzzFeed, Birthers & Me.

BuzzFeed recently wrote an article in which I was quoted entitled: "Ted Cruz Inherits Obama’s Birthers".

The term “birther” now has a common understanding in the general lexicon: “Birther: A conspiracy theorist who believes that Barack Obama is ineligible for the Presidency of the United States, based on any number of claims related to his place of birth, birth certificate, favorite birthday, or whether or not he has heard the song Africa by Toto."

Obviously, as the BuzzFeed article details fairly, there is much more to the claims of "birthers" then challenging Mr. Obama's eligibility; the very foundation of the rule of law is at issue.

Ted Cruz was born in Canada and could have rightly claimed he was a natural born Canadian. I imagine that when the parents applied for a SS# for Ted, the SS office handed the Canadian birth certificate back to the mother and told her to return with a certified copy of her American birth certificate and then they would wait for the government to tell them if little Teddy was a citizen, too. I suppose this was correctly done when he was a child, but until Ted opens his records we won't know, if Ted really has a certificate of citizenship on file. He could be a Senator with that type of citizenship, but never president- assuming older Americans and Millenials care about the Constitutional requirements for a natural born citizen.
Thank you for your work, Mr Sibley
